Woodley Park Modern Bath

The Brief

How do you mix old and new so it feels effortless and exciting? This 1912 Woodley Park home—still rocking a very ’90s “upgrade”—gave us the perfect puzzle.

Think a giant tub that never got used, a shower squeezed in with the toilet, a laundry setup that doubled as a trip hazard, and glass-block windows that felt… confused. Big space, zero flow.

So, we reworked everything: added proper closets, moved the laundry out of the suite, and created three clear zones—the wet area (hello dreamy tub + shower), a light-filled vanity zone, and a private water closet.

And those glass blocks? Instead of ditching them, we made them the star—echoing their shape in the tile and wallpaper. Terrazzo-look porcelain nods to mid-century style, and all new doors, transoms, and trim tie back to the home’s 1912 charm.
The result is a clean, bright bathroom with a fresh architectural style that will provide maximum functionality for decades to come.
